2 Norfolk Kitchen Designers Win Cornerstone Awards

On October 22, 2020, The New Hampshire Home Builders Association hosted its 2020 Cornerstone Awards ceremony, an annual award used to recognized excellence in the building industry. Award categories ranged from commercial new construction to residential kitchen & bath remodels. This year, two Norfolk Kitchen & Bath designers from the Manchester, NH kitchen showroom have taken home the gold award in their respective kitchen remodeling categories. Congratulations to our 2 winners!

Best Kitchen Remodel $25,000 – $50,000: Diane Fleming

Diane Fleming, a Norfolk Kitchen & Bath designer, took home the top prize for “Best Kitchen Remodel $25,000 – $50,000”. The project, an artisan baker’s kitchen, focused on creating a more functional design for the homeowner, while also matching the rest of the interior’s European home décor.

In conjunction with Liberty Hill Construction, Diane created a beautiful kitchen space that worked for the client’s exact needs and style preferences. The multi-functional, multi-level island has a dedicated baking area, which is shorter than a typical island for optimal baking prep, as well as space for her kids to do homework and eat breakfast. All the client’s baking materials & tools are within reach – Diane modified cabinets meant for wastebaskets to incorporate her various flour bins, added bookshelves for her cookbooks, and drawers for her bread-making supplies. Her microwave had a new home in the island rather than tucked away next to the washing machine, and a beverage center was added for a quick grab-and-go. Diane also modified the client’s wall oven cabinet to accommodate a TV. The kitchen design was completely customized so that everything had its place.

Best Residential Interior Design – Kitchen: Louise Robie

Louise Robie, also a kitchen designer for Norfolk, received the Gold award for “Best Residential Interior Design – Kitchen” for her Modern Farmhouse Kitchen. The project was part of a new home build in northern New Hampshire and focused on highlighting some of the homeowner’s favorite antiques, especially her kitchen sink.

A beautiful teal paint finish gave the kitchen cabinets a modern, trendy appearance, while the stunning, rustic alder wood accents brought in an old, rustic feel. Most importantly, the kitchen design truly highlighted the homeowner’s favorite antique collections. An accent kitchen cabinet was strategically placed to highlight the client’s cast iron sink. Antique wood, including beams from a Vermont barn and the old flooring from her previous property, created her new custom island. Small glass cabinets were placed around the perimeter of the kitchen to house the homeowner’s curio collection, turning this beautiful & functional kitchen design into an artistic showpiece that the client will enjoy for years to come.
