Items Often Overlooked in Kitchen Design

Kitchen remodeling has so many moving parts when you really start planning what you want in your new space that some things can just be simply overlooked or not thought through completely! Underestimating storage. When not looking directly at all of our kitchen supplies, we can underestimate how much room we need to keep everything organized. Not investing in useful storage technology to keep our pots and pans from falling out every time we open a cabinet or thinking we don’t need those cabinet drawers can seriously impede on how we are able to use our kitchen usefully.

Practical backsplash. Sometimes we can get so caught up in how something looks we don’t consider its functionality in our lives, and an appropriate backsplash is one of those items. Not only do we want something that looks great, we want surfaces that are easy to clean off grease splatter, will not stain, and is durable against heat.

Electrical outlets. It isn’t uncommon that we’re short up for outlets in our homes, especially if they are a little older! In only 10 years, we have made a huge technology leap, and having enough room for your kitchen extras or even creating a “charging station” can make your life a lot easier.

Having counter space next to appliances. This can be especially difficult when designing a smaller kitchen, but it’s important to consider your flow of work as you cook. If you are to pull out a dish from your oven, you won’t walk across a room to set it down! Be sure to create balance between your appliance distances and counter space.
