5 White Kitchen Cabinet Ideas For Your Kitchen

Timeless & classic, white kitchen cabinets are a perfect choice for any home. Some people may shy away from the white kitchen look, as they do not want to have the same “cookie cutter” style as every other home in the neighborhood. However, not all white cabinets are the same. From door styles to accent colors and finishes, there are many ways to make your kitchen cabinets pop.

White Shaker Cabinets

The standard in all of today’s white kitchens. Shaker cabinets are a five-piece door construction with a recessed center panel. While a classic shaker door is known for its simplicity, many manufacturers also offer more detailed shaker door options, adding visual interest to your white kitchen cabinets.

This kitchen was designed by our Framingham kitchen showroom using a classic & simple slim shaker cabinet, paired with a luxurious quartz countertop with bold veining that carries into the backsplash for a unique “wow” factor.

Inset Cabinet Construction

Traditionally, home cabinetry is built using an “overlay construction”, which means that the cabinet door “overlays” the frame of the cabinet. Another construction, called inset, is when the cabinet door is integrated inside the cabinet frame, sitting flush with the rest of the cabinet. Inset cabinets are a favorite of many high-end interior designers because of the clean, “built-in” look it provides to any kitchen design.

This kitchen, designed by our Salem kitchen showroom, features inset white cabinetry with a stunning, marble-esque quartz countertop and a full height matching backsplash. A blue island, not pictured, gives the kitchen a unique “pop” of color.

Modern White Kitchen Cabinets

Looking for a more contemporary white kitchen design? Adding slab (flat panel) front doors or a high gloss finish to your cabinets will separate your white kitchen from the crowd.

Glazed/Distressed Cabinets

Is your style more Rustic than Contemporary? Consider adding a vintage glaze or distressed look to your white kitchen cabinets to achieve an appearance more akin to your taste. Or you can choose an off-white vs. a bright white color to add some warmth back into your kitchen design while still incorporating the popular white color.

This kitchen below, designed by our Braintree showroom, features a Casual White painted finish with a specialty vintage finish added, blending this new kitchen into the historic building where it was installed.

Two Tone White Kitchens

Don’t love the “sterile” feel of all white kitchen cabinets? Add some personality to your kitchen design with an accent color on your base cabinets or even your island! Modern stain finishes as well as blues, greens and blacks have grown in popularity over the years and are often paired with white so as not to overwhelm the design with too much bold color.

In the kitchen below, designed by our Salem kitchen showroom, the designer paired these white kitchen cabinets with a more traditional oak cabinet and modernized it with a greyish brown stain, which is a great way to show off the beautiful oak woodgrain without aging your design!
