Picking a design palette for your new kitchen can be tough. Many of our clients are overwhelmed by the sheer amount of cabinetry, countertops, paint colors, and hardware options in our showrooms. Whether you are trying to match your existing décor or go for a whole new look, picking a design palette for your new kitchen will help springboard your initial design consultation in the right direction, and will simplify your decision making throughout the kitchen design journey. Check out these popular kitchen color palettes, based on different design styles.

Color Palettes By Design Style

2022 Trending Design Palette

Looking to incorporate today’s trends in your design? A white shaker door still reigns supreme, but colored accents on the island or base cabinets, such as navy or gray, are also a popular option. White quartz counters with marble-like veining, and brushed brass (gold) or matte black hardware are also commonly featured elements going into 2022.

Up & Coming Design Palette

This up & coming design palette still features the white shaker door, with the inclusion of natural elements, like modern wood finishes and green paint, as accent pieces. Contrasting stone countertops with a bold marble-like veining throughout, and matte black hardware, complete the look.

Transitional Design Style Palette

Many of the kitchens we design today can be considered “transitional”, pulling from both traditional & contemporary design elements. In this color palette, we have a more traditional raised-panel door in a modern gray stain finish, popular white & gray paint options, marble-looking quartz countertops, & satin nickel knobs and pulls.

Contemporary Design Style Palette

Going for an urban look? Slab front, full-access cabinetry is commonly associated with contemporary design.. Other popular style choices in contemporary design include a high-gloss paint finish, accented by a woodgrain thermofoil in a light to medium finish. Hardware, if required, is minimalist as to not disrupt the “clean lines” appearance in the cabinetry.

Coastal Design Style Palette

Everything is better by the beach! Coastal style kitchens often work best in rooms with lots of natural light. Popular design choices include white inset shaker cabinets with nautical blue accents, white quartz countertops with subtle or delicate details, and cup-style cabinet pulls in a satin nickel finish.

Traditional Kitchen Design Style Palette, featuring a raised panel cabinet door in an off-white finish, medium stain accents, natural stone or granite countertops and satin nickel knobs and pulls

Traditional Design Style Palette

Just because it’s traditional, doesn’t make it less stylish! A traditional design typically features a raised-panel cabinet in a white or off-white finish, medium wood accents, natural stone or granite countertops, and a combination of satin nickel knobs and pulls.
